Due to the impending holiday and inclimate weather, Running Club is canceled for 11/22/11. Thank you for your
Hello, Running Club!
We think our first meeting was a HUGE success! We had many organizational details that we needed to go over with the kids, and we were particularly impressed with the students' behavior and the fact that when we needed their attention, they gave it. Now that the setting of expectations is out of the way, we look forward to more activity during the next meeting. ☺ A couple of reminders:
We are trying to see if we can find someone who might be willing to sponsor our Running Club so that we can get shirts for the kids to wear on Tuesdays and to any events that we do. If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please contact me at [email protected]. Last, but not least, we want to thank all of the parent volunteers! We definitely could not pull this off without your help, and it is truly appreciated. We look forward to Tuesday! Hello Running Club Parents!
Due to the overwhelming response to Running Club, we are asking that you come to pick up your child in the front hallway at 3:45. PLEASE bear with us while we try to work through all of the issues that will arise due to the large number of kids interested in Running Club. We will be making adjustments as needed in the coming weeks as we see what will work to keep things running as smoothly as possible. PLEASE check your email for Running Club updates & also check the Pillow website at pillowelementary.weebly.com for information. WE ARE SO EXCITED TO HAVE SO MANY KIDS INTERESTED IN RUNNING CLUB! Thank you for your patience, Kimberly Davishines Running Club will meet every Tuesday from 2:45-4:00 pm, and we will meet in the hall by the cafeteria line. We are excited about being able to get kids running outside of school! We hope to foster a love of activity and a desire to set and meet goals. We also hope to help students feel prepared for the upcoming events for which they will be able to sign up.
In order to keep the club running smoothly and focused on healthy activity, we have come up with some ways to make sure your child is prepared: 1) Running Club members need to come to Running Club dressed appropriately. (Running shoes and clothes appropriate for running in the weather of the day). 2) Running Club members MUST bring a small snack to eat before running club. It is imperative that they give their bodies fuel before exerting them. 3) Running Club members MUST bring a water bottle with their name on it to EVERY meeting. We will be able to provide coolers with water to refill the bottles if necessary. In addition, we would like to take a moment to remind you that this club is being run on a strictly volunteer basis. As such, we ask that you be mindful of the time of everyone involved in running club, from the teachers running it, to the parents who have volunteered to help, to the students who are committing themselves to running club. To this end, we are requiring the following: 4) We ask that students make a commitment to running club, and make every effort to attend each meeting (other than when absent from school). 5) Pickup is at 4pm and children will be dismissed at the front of the school. If you need to pickup your child earlier, PLEASE be sure to check in with a teacher before you leave. We are implementing a "three strikes and you are out" policy regarding requirements 1-5 above. If you have an issue on three separate occasions (be it the same issue three times, or three different issues) you will be dropped from the Running Club roster. We have about 90 students signed up, and we want each of them to get the most that they can out of Running Club. The fewer issues we have to tend to, the more time we will have to have fun running! We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday! Kimberly Davishines Lauren Mikulencak Ashley Bessire Carly Kennedy |
