There are still MANY items on our list to choose from (there have even been a few new ones added), and it is so easy to just pick something up this weekend while you are out starting your holiday shopping. If you thought about getting something, but never signed up, NOW IS THE TIME! Just go to the homepage of our website & click on the wishlist icon and then click on the picture of our Wishlist. We are asking you to bring the items on December 1st, which is the Thursday after Thanksgiving, so it is creeping up on us fast. If you do not see something for your child's teacher, please feel free to get something for another teacher. We intend for this to be anonymous, and we would love to get as many items as possible that are on the list. THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping to make this project a SUCCESS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
During this time when we give thanks, PTA thought it would be nice to show our teachers how much we appreciate them by fulfilling their "wishes." We have asked them what they wish they could have in their classrooms, and we are hoping that parents and community members will be able to help fulfill those wishes. We have a wishlist on the main bulletin board at school with items listed on it that you can just pull off and take with you to remind you what you have committed to bring. We ask that you then bring this item on December 1st to be given anonymously to the teacher. You can even have fun with it and wrap it like a present! Please be sure to put the teacher's name on the item so we know whom to give it to, as we will be collecting everything in one central location. Thank you for your help in making this project a success!
As you all know, we have been using VolunteerSpot to notify you of volunteer opportunities. We have recently become aware of a different program, Sign Up Genius, that we believe will improve the volunteer sign up process for everyone.
Sign Up Genius notifies you of volunteer opportunities similarly to VolunteerSpot. You will receive an email invitation to a volunteer opportunity (which includes a direct link to that opportunity). However, once you visit the site for the first time, the changes will become apparent. First of all, you will need to enter your name, email (If you have more that one, please use the one that this email came to), and a password. (Don't worry - Sign Up Genius will not share this information). This may sound like an annoyance (you only have to do it once), but it leads to greater convenience. Once you have an account, you gain access to the Sign Up Genius Volunteer Calendar. This Volunteer Calendar shows you every available Pillow Volunteer Opportunity, all in one central location. Then, once you find one (or two, or five, or ten...) to sign up for, just click on that day and sign up. It's that easy. Additionally, if you forget what you have signed up for (let's face it, we all have kids, so we all have memory loss), you will not only get email reminders, you can also go to the Sign Up Genius Calendar and there it is! If you are not yet on our Volunteer Group list, and you would like to be able to view all of the volunteer opportunities at Pillow, please email me at [email protected], and request to be added to the group. Thank you! I just wanted to take a moment to thank the volunteers who have been helping out around school the last couple of months. Your presence at school is TRULY APPRECIATED!!! This year we have started so many new things (after school clubs, yahoo groups, and the website), and we could not make these things happen along with all of the things we have done all along without all of the WONDERFUL volunteers who donate their time to help make our school a better place. I would LOVE to list each of your names here, but I would hate to forget even one name, so I hope you will forgive me. Please know that you are valued tremendously. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
Thank you to everyone who came to our PTA General Meeting on Friday night. It was a relatively small group, but I tink we came up with some great ideas on how to improve our PTA and school. However, we still need more input! If you are reading this and have wanted to help, but never have felt that you were able to, please tell us why. What can we do to make it easier for you to be involved in our school? Thanks again to everyone who came!
